Why I am so passionate about food as a lifestyle

Well, here I am making my first blog post - how scary, how exciting, how empowering. To start this off, how about a little bit about me and why I am so passionate about food as a lifestyle.

I spent my entire life living on the "heavy" side blaming my size on big bones, poor genetics, and various health hurdles until my Goals in Motion experience. It took the encouragement of a friend who was a long time GIM member to get me into the studio and keep me committed, then my GIM coaches, instructors, and motivating fellow workout friends did the rest.

I started my first 9 week challenge in May of 2008 at a starting weight of 220 lbs with my highest weight history tipping the scales at 245. Success in weight loss had only come in small doses at best and never was able to be sustained. After one 9 week challenge and 23 lbs of weight loss success later I had a taste of what it felt like to be under the 200 pound mark and the fire was burning to continue. Immediately I made the big decision to enter a second 9 week challenge where another 24 pounds came off. Now after multiple successful maintenance challenges, nearly two years have passed and I continue to reach for future goals and the scale is
paying back the favor for all my hard work.

I now take pride in going from a doctor's diagnosis of "obese"
to fitness instructor in less than a year. I instructs both kickboxing and resistances classes at two Goals in Motion locations along with coaching new participants in the challenge program through their journey - loving every minute of seeing others experience the excitement of changing their lives for the better.
